Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a stand-alone "expansion" for Far Cry 3. The info was leaked when Brazilian ratings had this game in their list.[1] The story is not canon to Far Cry 3, but gameplay mechanics stay the same.
Everything in the game is based on B-rated movie aspects from the 80's, when movies such as RamboTerminator and Robocop were very popular. This includes the art, story, and voice acting, running the gamut from neon colours to over the top voice-overs. It is intended to be a fun, campy game, but the danger is still very palpable and can result in a quick death if not taken seriously.
Those that pre-order the PC version of the game also receive a copy of the game's soundtrack.[2]

StoryEdit

The setting is in an alternative 2007, where the "apocalypse has had an apocalypse", and a Cyborg army called the "Omega Force" is trying to take over the world, or what's left of it, by trying to find a bioweapon that is hidden on a distant island. The fate of the world is in the hands of Sergeant Rex Power Colt, who is a Cyborg that came from the Toxic ashes of Vietnam War II.
Rex is out for revenge, intent on hunting down his former cyber-commanding officer, Colonel Ike Sloan. Missions range from capturing outposts (controlled by the Omega Force) and hunting wildlife; this wildlife is similar to Far Cry 3's with a more robotic, 80's feel applied to them. The island's most notable species are the Blood Dragons; gigantic, mutated Komodo Dragons that shoot lasers from their eyes.
The game starts with Rex and Lieutenant T.T. "Spider" Brown are dropped on to an unknown island in order to investigate a "black sector" threat that turns out to be Omega Farce. After infiltrating a garrison, Rex and Spider learn that Omega Farce is ran by none other than Colonel Dike Sloan, their old commanding officer. While entering the facility, it turns out to be a missile silo containing a Red Spear missile, an ICBM used to nuke Canada. However this one has been customized to contain a bio-weapon. The duo arrives at the command console and Spider attempts to hack the console, but ends up having to manually shut it down using his Cybernetics while Rex covers him against Omega Farce. Spider ultimately fails, he tells Rex that the launch is autonomous and he needs to tear out the missile's internal wiring. Rex succeeds and calls in Helodrone 7-3 for extraction, but is shot down with Rex in it. The two are captured by Sloan.

Easter Eggs and ReferencesEdit

TMNT Easter EggEdit

In one of the outposts a mission can be activated which is a clear reference to TMNT. Just watch the video to see for yourself!

Transformers referenceEdit

During the second-to-last mission, upon acquiring the Killstar Rex says "I got the touch! I got the power, Yeah!". This is a reference to the song featured in the Transformers movie by Stan Bush called "The Touch" with the phrase above as the exact lyrics.

Predator referenceEdit

In the very start of the game when you start shooting the mini-gun out of the helicopter the song "Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard will play. The same song played in the helicopter scene in Predator.
